If you are worried that you might need braces, you're in good company. Researchers figure that over 4 million people across the US have braces or are in the process of getting braces. Types of Braces
There are different types of braces. Depending on what of problem you are having, you may need a particular type of braces. Usually, we make braces out of metal or ceramic brackets. We glue your brackets to the front of the teeth, and then we place wires through the brackets. We then tighten the braces according to your treatment plan. Traditional braces can be used for children and adults.
We can also create braces that are bonded behind the teeth instead of the front of the teeth. Usually, lingual braces - the name of these braces - are used only for adults. Lingual braces are used when a few teeth need to be fixed. We can place braces on the top or the bottom row of your teeth. A different type of braces uses clips on the brackets rather than bands or wires.

Protecting Your Braces
Once you get braces, you need to make sure that you are brushing and flossing your teeth twice a day every day. You also need to avoid sticky, hard, or crunchy foods. All of these foods can break your brackets or braces. You also need to come and see us get your braces checked, and your wires tightened every other month.

Emergency Orthodontic Care
If you experience trauma or injury to the mouth, emergency orthodontic care may be necessary. If a part of your braces becomes loose or breaks, do not attempt to fix it yourself. Be sure to call us as soon as possible so we can get you in for an appointment. If you experience severe trauma or injury, you may need to go to urgent care or seek the help of an oral surgeon.
