Did you know that Senestraro Family Orthodontics can fix whatever ails your smile? One way we help people improve their smiles is by straightening crooked teeth - without the hassle of metal braces. Not sure what we mean? Let us give you some information about Invisalign braces.
What are Invisalign Braces?
Invisalign braces allow us to fix and straighten teeth - all without the problems of metal braces. This is especially important if you are an adult. Adults are used to managing their lives without the issue of braces. If you choose to get Invisalign, you’ll notice that Invisalign braces work the same way that metal braces do. However, there is one important difference. Invisalign braces are made of plastic, not metal. Invisalign braces fit over your natural teeth. They can be removed for eating or drinking. Invisalign can also be removed for brushing and flossing. Since Invisalign braces are made of plastic, they are clear and less noticeable than regular braces. What Are the Advantages of Invisalign Braces?
Invisalign braces have many advantages. You know they are invisible. Invisalign braces also allow you to eat and drink without worry. Because you remove Invisalign aligners, you aren’t going to damage your braces, no matter what you eat or drink. With metal braces, you get an entire list of things you can’t eat with your braces. For example, you won’t be able to eat very hard foods. Apples and other hard foods are a no-no. Very sticky foods, such as caramels, you can’t have with braces. Because Invisalign braces are removable, they allow you to eat and drink without an issue. You can brush your teeth, get rid of food particles, and put your aligners back on.
Invisalign braces also have no wires or brackets. This makes Invisalign different from metal braces - and less irritating. Some people are irritated by wires and brackets. They can develop irritation in their teeth and gums. Wires and brackets can even cause sores. You may not get these sores if you have Invisalign and you might not have to wear them as long as metal braces: the time needed for Invisalign braces to work can be six months shorter than for metal braces. This makes Invisalign braces cheaper over time. Read more about Invisalign vs. braces.
How Do Invisalign Braces Work?
If you decide to get Invisalign braces, we will make a mold or digital impressions of your teeth. We need to take x-rays and photographs of your teeth as well. We develop information about your teeth to create an image in 3D. This helps us map where your problem areas are.
Invisalign is a good alternative to conventional metal braces for treating gaps and overbites. While both options are helpful, Invisalign doesn't require you to make noticeable lifestyle changes. However, when seeking Invisalign treatment, you must be careful about your oral hygiene. It may seem intimidating initially, but with Invisalign aligners, you won't have to change how you brush or floss your teeth.
