Braces are trusted solutions to straightening teeth, and they come in different types. Generally, each type of braces are custom-prescribed for each patient as they all have advantages and features that are unique to them. The following are the different types of braces available.

Traditional Braces

Traditional braces are typically made of metal. They are a combination of stainless steel wires and supports that our professionals attach to the teeth, creating pressure that gradually straightens the teeth as required. Traditional braces are the most commonly used braces, yet they are considerably inexpensive. However, they are very obvious once placed, and patients may be conscious about using them.

Ceramic Braces

Ceramic braces are just like traditional braces, except that the materials used are from ceramic materials that have the color shade of your teeth. This means that they can blend easily with your teeth and are less obvious. While ceramic braces are just as effective as traditional braces, they are more expensive.

Lingual Braces

These types of braces are also made from metal like the traditional braces. Although, they fit on the inside part of the teeth, and are not easily visible from the outside. Lingual braces are custom-made to the shape of your teeth, and are a great choice for people who want something inconspicuous. They tend to take longer to achieve the desired correction, and can also cause some discomfort for patients since they come in contact with the tongue.

Invisalign

Invisalign is a set of clear plastic braces or aligners that are worn on the teeth. Invisalign braces are custom-fit for each patient individually and do not require brackets and wires. When worn, they are almost invisible. Typically, our professionals use them to treat minor dental issues for grownups. There are also self-ligating braces that are similar to traditional braces with clips to hold the wires in place. While you may want some type of braces, it is always best to speak with our professionals to get the best suited options for your dental solution.
